Your Stories Shape Your Reality

Have you ever noticed that whatever story you tell yourself is the one that ends up being true?

If you tell yourself you’re behind where you should be… you’ll find evidence for it everywhere.

If you tell yourself you’re not ready… every decision starts to feel risky.

If you tell yourself you always figure it out… you do.

Let me be clear: Our stories are not the ONLY things that shape our reality. We are not all-powerful beings operating in a vacuum. Circumstances out of our control and choices others make also shape our reality. To ignore this is delusional.

But, the stories we tell ourselves are powerful. Not because they’re always factually accurate, but because they shape our perspective, our energy, and ultimately… our actions.

And that's the missing link.

Becoming aware of and changing your stories seems like a nice-to-have, like something that might make you feel better but doesn't drive real results, like something that might help way in the future if you put in a ton of effort now.

But it actually starts having an impact immediately. It changes your trajectory.

Even if you don't do it perfectly.

This is something I’ve been sitting with deeply this week, both in my own life and in conversations with founders.

Strategy without an aligned story is like sailing with no wind.

Because here’s the truth: We’re always telling stories - to ourselves, our teams, our clients, and our communities. So let’s get intentional about it.
